Straight Thinkers Limited provides two different types of services, both focusing on gently introducing the Engineering dimension to the STEM curriculum:

1 – STEM Ambassador sessions

These sessions are aimed directly at Primary School pupils (and their parents) and provide the answers to the questions that are often asked by children about engineering:

  • What is “engineering”?
  • What’s the difference between “science” and “engineering”?
  • What is “technology” and where does it come from?
  • What types of engineer are there and what sorts of jobs do they do?
  • How do you become an engineer?
  • What if an engineer gets it wrong?

These sessions are offered under the auspices of the STEM Ambassador programme that is administered by STEM.org.

2 - STEM Consulting services

These services are aimed at Teachers, School Leaders and Governors and also Teacher Trainers. They aim to create an awareness of the national problem of the shortfall in the number of young people entering the engineering professions, why Primary Schools are such an integral and fundamental part of the solution, and what small, pragmatic and practical steps that Primary Schools can take to start to address the problem.
